The ENERGYFLEXHOUSE is a demonstration project of the Danish Technological Institute. Researchers can learn about human interactions with technical systems via the living lab.
The following is a description of heat pumps in the Danish ENERGYFLEXHOUSE.
A domestic ventilation heat pump transports energy from discharge air and delivers domestic hot water and warm air flow.
There is also a mini heat pump that transports energy from a ground coil and it produces underfloor heating.
According to the Danish Technological Institute, heat pumps are an important alternative to other sources of energy in new buildings. An energy monitoring dashboard enables systems data analysis.
This is much better use heat pump than using outside air for the energy source.
Using discharge air from the house ventilation makes for a very efficient Heat-pump although the ventilation volume and thus heat produced would be small. Taking heat from the ground below the frost line with the ground source coil is a much more efficient and even source of heat than outside air. This method allows you to heat you house efficiently on the coldest days. This is the way all heat pumps should be installed. It would truly allow the home owner to eliminate there oil/gas furnace.
